Bhutan
Bhutan presents a spectacular natural landscape
with snow peaks to the north and green mountains
and deep gorges.
Tibet
Tibet the roof of the world had remained a
forbidden land for the outsiders for most
part of the last century.
Ladakh It lies in the eastern half of Jammu
& Kashmir State in the far noth of India.
Darjeeling
Darjeeling lies to the south of the state
of Sikkim and is the renowned hill station
in the state of West Bengal.
Sikkim Along the eastern frontier of Nepal
is Sikkim, a Himalayan fairyland of hidden
valleys, lofty mountains and rich coverage
of alpine vegetation, sheltered within which
are some most interesting destination and
unique trekking trails.
Nepal is
one of the best adventure destinations in the world.
With the Himalayas looming over almost every aspect
of Nepali life, it is no wonder that the country
becomes a mojor attraction for mountaineers and
lovers of the mountains.
The 'Great Himalayas' has writhin its territorial
boundry 1310 peaks over 6000 meters out of which
263 prominet peaks cleared for high altitude mountaineering
expeditions, 50% of those emain virgin peaks with
no human setting foot on them.
The lower altitude peaks, about 18 of them averaging
around 6000 meters are open to expeditions and designated
as trekking peaks. The Nepal Mountaineering Association
had introduced these peaks as an intermediary stage
between hiking and all out Summit Scalling expedition.
More complecated than mere hiking, trekking peaks
are more of a mountian trek but can easily be termed
as amatuer mountaineering.
It is essiential to note here that there are still
considerable mountains taller than almost anything
in North America and Europe. Mere peak in the Everest
Region is the highest trekking peak at 6476 meters.
The lowest trekking peak, Mardi Himal, which sits
just below the Machhapuchhere, is over 5500 meters,
is still a mojor challenge, much beyond mere hiking,
As noted above there are about 16 peaks designated
as trekking peaks. Permission to 'trek' to these
peaks is accorded by the Mountaineering Association
of Nepal. A trek to any of the 18 peaks is a mini
- mountaineering expedition and particioants have
to be more then fit to tackle the stress and be
able to with stand high altitude sickness. In a
way the whole exercise is more of an 'amateur mountaineering'
expedition than any things else.
Mera Peak Expedition
Among the highest peaks of Nepal, Mera Peaks at
6476 meters is one of the highest permitted trekking
peaks of Nepal. The route boasts a stunning panorama
showcasing five of the world eight thousand peaks.
Mt. Everest, Kanchanjunga, Makalu, Cho-oyu and
Lhotse. The peak rises to the South of Everest and
dominates the watershed between the wide and thickly
forested valley below.
The trek takes on a climb through the standard route
along the Mera la offer a few days of Acclimatisation
on the way. During excessive snow or when the mouths
of crevasses are open, the path can be strenous
and demanding, but for amateur mountaineers, booked
through Hidden Himalaya travel and trekking Agency.
There are always experienced mountaineers,sherpas,
Guides and porters to make the trail easy enough.
