Nepal and its
Mountains
Nepal is known the world over, primarily for
the three things.
Mount Everest
As the birth place of Lord Buddha and
As the homeland of Gorkha Soldiers.
However, it is her mountains that have prove to
be irresistible for the world's bravest adventures.
It all began with the scaling of Mt. Everest by
Sir Edmand Hillary and his Sherpa Colleague, Tenzing
Norgay in 1953. Then followed the Messners, not
at all surprising. Since the land stands tall
with 8 of the 10 highest mountains in the world.
Of the countless numbers of Summits within Nepal,
over 133 are open to foreigners for climbing.
However, 18 of the 'trekking peaks' in the 5,000
to 6000 meter ranges can also be climb for a free.
Although by Himalayan Standards, these are considered
river peaks, they nonetheless, provide snow and
ice, climbing and are technically quite challenging.
